Part Used;

Root ( The leaf in known more or its diuretic action, thus used for hypertension, kidney lithiasis and fluid retention conditions. It is known to a lesser extent for conditions indicated for the root part)

 

Main Actions;

Hepatic tonic, laxative, diuretic, digestive stimulant, choleretic, bitter tonic (digestive)

 

Commonly used for;

  • Jaundice, Cirrhosis, hepatitis

  • Gallbladder disorders/gallstones

  • General tonic conditions

  • Chronic joint and skin inflammations

  • Loss of appetite associated with hepatic and biliary function

 

Contraindications/precautions;

Avoid use by persons with hypersensitivity to danelion or other plants in the asteraceae/compositae family. Avoid use in persons with irritable bowel syndrome, digestive diseases, bile duct obstruction/closure, cholecystitis, ileus(intestinal) obstruction, empyema or latex allergy.

Caution to be used when gallstones are present and in persons with diabetes mellitus or fluid and electrolyte imbalances.
